It is 25 years in business for Show of Hands, started as an artist cooperative in 1983.  The celebration is grass roots, and rather than looking for applause we’re asking you to “Give us a Hand” in raising money to benefit the Helen B. Davis Endowed Scholarship of The Women’s College of the University of Denver.

Sixty-five artists are each “giving us a hand” by embellishing a 14-inch wooden hand template.  They may work in their own media (fiber, clay, metal, wood, and mixed media) or think outside the craft for which they are best known.  Craftspeople throughout the United States (and one from Canada!) were invited to participate.  Each work of art will be auctioned to support the scholarship fund.

The show will be traveling to four venues debuting at Show of Hands on Saturday, June 21 (10 -6pm) & closing at the University of Denver on Wednesday, September 24.

The finale will be installing the show at the Hirschfeld Gallery on the campus of The Women’s College of the University of Denver (Sept 7 through Sept 24 www.womenscollege.du.edu )

The gallery will be hosting a reception at the Hirschfeld Gallery on Wednesday, September 24th officially honoring Helen Davis, the Helen B. Davis Endowed Scholarship, and our participating artists with a toast to the gallery for 25 Years!

The auction will begin on Saturday, June 21 online at www.showofhandsdenver.com  and we invite you to follow along and be a part of the online auction throughout the run of the show!
