Nelis' Dutch Village
Nelis’ Dutch Village is a family-owned destination where Dutch heritage comes alive through vibrant culture, timeless traditions, and four generations of heartfelt hospitality. Founded in 1952 as a roadside tulip bulb and souvenir shop, the village has grown into a beloved attraction in Holland, Michigan—home to over 30 historic-style buildings, costumed dancers, Dutch treats, and joyful experiences for all ages.
But the Nelis family story stretches back much further. In 1910, young Harry Nelis journeyed from the Netherlands to America in search of new opportunity. By 1922, the family had settled in Holland, Michigan, growing vegetables before shifting to tulips—and eventually becoming a cornerstone of the area’s iconic Tulip Time Festival. Over the decades, Nelis’ Dutch Village has evolved from a simple tulip farm into a magical, immersive celebration of Dutch culture.
Still operated by the Nelis family today, the Village remains deeply rooted in tradition while continuing to grow and enchant new generations. From klompen dancing to heirloom gifts, carousels to carillon bells, every visit is a tribute to heritage, family, and the joy of sharing it with others.
