What began as a quest to improve the comfort of director’s chairs in Hollywood unexpectedly launched a bamboo revolution. Founders Tom and Joanne Sullivan were running their company, Hollywood Chairs, when they discovered bamboo—an incredibly strong, lightweight, and eco-friendly material that outperformed wood in every way. Their experiments with bamboo scraps led to the first Totally Bamboo cutting boards—originally made as holiday gifts and brought to a local art show on a whim. They sold out instantly, and a new passion was born.

Since that moment, Totally Bamboo has been at the forefront of innovation in natural kitchenware and home goods. From the first laminated bamboo salad bowl to the first dishwasher-safe bamboo cutting boards (GreenLite™), their designs are equal parts function and beauty. The beloved state-shaped cutting boards from their Hawaiian Collection are a fan favorite, blending artistry with everyday practicality.
