Chickenscratch
Founded in 1988 by husband-and-wife artists Lisa and Scott Cylinder, CHICKENSCRATCH is a studio jewelry company that blends impeccable craftsmanship with wit, narrative, and a sense of play. Working side by side in their Maine studio, the Cylinders design and handcraft each piece using base metals, found objects, and a variety of vibrant finishes—from verdigris patinas and metallic leafing to translucent enamel paints and mica powders.
Their work is known for its rich colors, clever construction, and kinetic elements—think swinging legs, wagging tails, and unexpected surprises that bring each design to life. Every CHICKENSCRATCH piece is a tiny sculpture with a story, inviting the wearer to engage, interpret, and delight. With custom components and attention to every detail (right down to their hand-sharpened pin backs), CHICKENSCRATCH jewelry is durable, charming, and full of character—just like the artists behind it.
